A.H. Burns Company was founded in 1958 by Al Burns. Al had worked previously with Metherall & McCausland of Quincy for many years. John Marani had begun his plumbing career with the same company and when Al decided to open his own business, John Marani went to work for Al. At first, they worked out of Al’s basement on Elmwood Ave in the Wollaston section of Quincy.
As the company grew, they moved operations down the street to a vacant store front at 255 Beale St. In 1967, the business was incorporated and became A.H. Burns Company Inc. In 1970 Al retired and John Marani took over ownership of the company. As John continued to grow the company, he pursued service work as well as new construction and renovations.
John’s son, John Marani III, came to work after graduating from Wentworth Institute in 1980, becoming a first-year apprentice. In 1992, in conjunction with the retirement of John Marani, John Marani III took over as owner.
As the company continued to grow, it outgrew its location on Beale St. in Quincy, so John moved the company to Greenwood Ave in Weymouth. After over 10 years of more growth at that location, John moved the company again to its current location of 296A Weymouth St. in Rockland.
Evolving into the 21st century, A.H. Burns Co., Inc. has remained focused on its core values. Those values being a full commitment to its customers’ needs, while delivering a top-quality product. Maintaining its values coupled with its collective extensive experience is how it attributes its success. John Bierman returned to the company as Vice President in 2018. Together John M and John B have expanded the company internally to include an estimating, project management, and a design division to keep it competitive and moving forward with its success.
